Resident, Kevin Wixted recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Grant 2016
February 5, 2016
Alfred University (AU) faculty member Kevin Wixted, professor of painting, School of Art & Design, has been awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant for 2016.
The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Inc. was established in 1985 for the sole purpose of providing financial assistance to individual visual artists of established ability through the generosity of the late Lee Krasner, one of the leading abstract expressionist painters and the widow of Jackson Pollock. The Foundation’s mission is to aid, internationally, those individuals who have worked as professional artists over a significant period of time.
Wixted, who earned bachelor of art and master of art degrees from Bloomsburg (PA) University, has also been granted a studio residency by the Eileen S. Kaminsky Family Foundation (ESKFF) at Mana Contemporary, Jersey City, NJ. ESKFF, founded in 2009, is an alternative channel for connecting artists, curators, collectors, galleries, cultural institutions, and the public through exhibitions and programming based on private contemporary art collections.
Last year, Wixted was awarded an AU International Fellowship for Faculty Development.
Officers and directors of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation are advised in the selection process by a committee of recognized specialists in their fields. Artists are required to submit a cover letter, an application, and images of current work. Professional exhibition history is also taken into consideration.
