ARTIST: ENTANG WIHARSO CRITICS: Moderator: Robert Morgan Jonathan Goodman, Donald Kuspit, Paul Laster Entang’s Wiharso’s first NYC solo exhibition opens TO THE PUBLIC at MARC STRAUS January 7, 2015
Entang Wiharso is one of the foremost Indonesian artists who represented his country at the last Venice Biennale. He speaks with a heightened sense of urgency, through many mediums: painting, sculpture, video, installation, and performance. At its core is a deep understanding of the human condition. Upon viewing this work one is compelled to question the dipoles of love and hate, spirituality and ideology and different cultural perspectives. Often ambiguous, his work suggests a much larger and richer narrative. Read More
