The CURATORIAL PROGRAM FOR RESEARCH announces its OPEN CALL for CPR 2017: MEXICO Production Processes, from the Urban to the Rural
The Curatorial Program for Research (CPR) is pleased to announce its open call for curators for CPR 2017: Mexico. Production Processes, from the Urban to the Rural, CPR’s fourth fully-funded research program, will take place from February 5-22, 2017. Hosted by local institutions, the program gathers a cohort of up to eight curators, and offers daily visits to artist studios and local arts institutions, complemented by readings about local socio-political history, arts, and culture. Following the trip, each curator is asked to submit a proposal for a project in his/her home city, and one winning proposal will be awarded a production grant. Both independent curators and those with institutional affiliations may apply; only applicants with two+ years of professional experience will be considered. A jury comprised of CPR's executive staff: Carmen Ferreyra, Director and Founder; Cecelia Thornton-Alson, Academic Advisor, and Bernardo Sopelana, CPR Host in Mexico, will select the participants. The Curatorial Program for Research partners with local arts initiatives in each of its host cities and provides curators with a professional support structure with an international scope. Our programs seek to expand the boundaries of current curatorial practice, and facilitate an international exchange of ideas. CPR 2016: Eastern Europe begun on September 5, 2016. Building Capitals, Finding Capital: Developing Projects across Prague, Warsaw, and Kiev.
The third edition of CPR Core Program, Building Capitals, Finding Capital: Developing Projects across Prague, Warsaw, and Kiev, kicked off in Kiev, Ukraine on September 5, 2016. With a fully-loaded calendar of activities, curators-in-residence: Melissa Aguilar (Colombia), Rosanna del Solar (Peru), Susanne Ewerlöf (Sweden), Joseph Gergel (US/Nigeria), Emma Hazen (US), Pedro Portellano (Spain/Germany), Mariana Rodríguez Iglesias (Argentina), and Alessandra Troncone (Italy) are currently exploring these three diverse art centers. CPR 2016: Eastern Europe is taking place over the course of 20 days and is hosted by local institutions including Izolyatsia in Kiev, Adam Mickiewicz Institute, AIR Laboratory / CCA Ujazdowski Castle, Zachęta - National Gallery of Art and The City of Warsaw, and the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Prague.
Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center (ECADC) September 21 – October 2, 2016 Tallinn, Estonia This Fall the Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center (ECADC) is presenting the third edition of its Gallerist Master Course in Tallinn, Estonia, an eight-day intensive course offering training for both practicing and emerging gallerists. The course is designed to introduce students to the dynamics of the art world infrastructure. Classes will discuss the various segments of today's global art market (Alessia Zorloni, IULM); artist representation and the day-to-day operations of a commercial gallery (Sol Pochat, HILO Gallery); art journalism and social media (Andrew M. Goldstein, Artspace, Phaidon); as well as more recent developments in exhibition-making and curating (Fatos Üstek, independent curator, fig2). About THE CURATORIAL PROGRAM FOR RESEARCH The Curatorial Program for Research (CPR) is the core facilitator of an international network of curators, artists and institutions. Through open calls and full research scholarships, CPR has three goals: first, to enable a direct, in situ communication between international curators and local artists. Secondly, to promote equal access to knowledge. And third, to act as a platform for promotion and practice for the participating curators and hosts. With a nomadic and intensive format, CPR promotes dialogue between international curators and local artistic scenes. The program was created by curators and for curators, and is a non-profit international organization based in Indianapolis, USA, with satellite locations in more than 15 cities throughout the world.
